Autumn- A Story of Seasons

I snuck quietly into the kitchen to make myself a pot of coffee. I took such great care to walk on my tip-toes, avoid the creaking areas of the floor, and even managed to gracefully catch myself from falling over the strategically placed land mines of toys, tippy cups, and laundry baskets. I held my breath with every sound that came from running the water and filling the coffee grounds, listening intently from tiny footsteps, cries, or rustling of my tinies. This would only mean…6am is not early enough for mommy to get some quiet time!
My life is currently stretched between seasons right now. Raising a teenager, a seven year old, a threenager and an infant, I am experiencing a pretty large load of child-rearing seasons. My teenager reminds me, they don’t stay little long. My seven year old reminds me of how fast time goes by. My threenager reminds me, I don’t know what I’m doing, and my infant reminds me, there was once a time when I was the only thing they wanted!:)
Every season has a different story to tell. From new life and sunshine, to toasty and cozy fireside cuddles, each season has its own unique blessings and challenges. You can choose to embrace the changes, focus on the wonder of the season and the beauty in it, or you can choose to focus on the challenges, the struggles, the pains of impending difficulties each one brings.
Ecclesiastes sums it up for us in chapter three.
How much more joyful and content would our hearts be if we learned to embrace each changing season for what God intended!
I know exactly what September will bring every year! You do too:) Just hop on Facebook and it won’t take much scrolling until you find it:). The age old feud…is it “Pumpkin Season” yet!?
The entirety of Facebook is divided on the subject..how soon is too soon to break out the pumpkin everything, wear the hoodies, break out the long sleeves, decorate for fall or even halloween?…the memes, gifs, comments, “how dare you wish the warm weather away” posts, its almost comical. Same thing with November. How soon is too soon to be praying for snow, singing Christmas carols, drinking hot cocoa, or putting up the tree?
We mean it all in jest, but how much of it is true about our lives as Christians? How quickly are we rushing to change our seasons? Or how intensely are we holding on to the past seasons?
God intends for every moment of our lives to be a beautiful song of praise to Him. Whether it is serving Him in our single hood, caring for small children and the needs of the home, working a job, struggling to keep our wits about us while raising teenagers, watching our children become adults, aging with grace. No matter which season you find yourself in, God has a plan.
You know what is so uniquely special about His plans for your seasons? Not one other person in the entire world will experience a single season that will look exactly like any of yours! Think about that for a second. There may be similarities, ways in which we can help one another through trying or exciting times, but not one of us will ever have the exact experience within our season as someone else. God meant for it all to be unique.
We can relate to one another, but we can also experience God’s presence through each change personally and individually. I cannot fathom a more awesome and incredible experience than knowing just how special we are to our Creator. That my life has been crafted by the hands of the Potter to be completely led by His will and His plan unique only to me! If God can make every tiny snowflake different, every fingerprint varied from another, then imagine His ability to see us all the way through life!
In time dear Mama, in time dear friend, in time dear loved one, in time dear sister, God will make everything beautiful…in His time. Walk with Him through your season. Trust Him with the plans. Take heart and have faith that He is with you every step of the way and He will not leave you or forsake you. In time…
